For quite some time, Lake County officials have been working toward repurposing the RRP (Residential Reentry Program) facility, also known as the TRV, in Baldwin.

Lake County Administrator Tobi Lake said in the course of that work they’ve given several tours which local officials and government leaders such as State Rep. Curt VanderWall have taken part in.

Some of the reuses that have been considered range from a detention center for adults or youth, to housing, to private industry.

“We did give a tour of the facility last week and are working on scheduling another one in the near future, with a totally different group,” Lake said. “Nothing has changed in regards to the facility and we continue to work towards the facility being repurposed.”
