David Moyes has confirmed Everton will be without Idrissa Gueye against Newcastle United despite the club appealing his suspension for violent conduct. Gueye saw red against Manchester United on Monday night at Old Trafford after an altercation with teammate Michael Keane .
The action was said to be a "clear strike to the face" by the Premier League Match Centre. Moyes took umbrage with the decision made by referee Tony Harrington, which video assistant referee Paul Howard checked and confirmed.
Red cards for violent conduct are penalised with a three-match ban. That suspension begins at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this weekend.
