The North East is set for a dramatic end to November and meteorological autumn with heavy rain and strong winds forecast this weekend. It comes as the Met Office has put Yellow National Severe Weather Warnings for rain in place in other parts of the UK today, Saturday November 29.

Following a deceptively bright start to the weekend for many parts of the region, cloud will move in throughout the morning for persistent heavy rain on Saturday afternoon. These downpours could be wintry over the Pennines, according to the Met Office forecast, while weather maps show that large areas of the North East will see the rain turn to hail on Saturday evening.
