SUV owners are taking a “bigger financial hit” to keep their cars on the road with prices much higher than smaller models, according to new data. Analysis from ClickMechanic shows that SUV owners are “unknowingly” paying more, with bills £100s more expensive.

According to an analysis by ClickMechanic, examining 110,000 quotes, SUV components were found to be substantially more expensive. Shock absorber replacements would cost around £554.71 on SUVs, 33% more than the average for smaller vehicles, which would be around £371. Meanwhile, alternator replacements on SUVs cost around £542.77, 23% higher than those of other smaller vehicles, who will pay around £418.
