Pressure is mounting on the Government after it has so far refused to give the green light to a medal for hero injured police officers, despite the policing minister saying she would back the move before Labour came to power. The Daily Express is backing the campaign for an Injury in Service Award , which has received huge cross-party support with a motion voted through the House of Commons on Thursday last week.

But brave former police officers who travelled to Parliament, many of whom are elderly and have suffered life-changing injuries in the line of duty, were left disappointed after Labour refused to commit to a timeline for an award to be made a reality.
