The first Sycamore Gap sapling has been planted in Northumberland along with another in a North East spot. A sapling has been planted at Hexham General Hospital in Northumberland , and another has been planted at Newcastle's West End Women and Girls Centre Community Garden.
Sycamore Gap was illegally felled in September 2023, which created shock across the region and to preserve its legacy, saplings were collected from the fallen tree. Through the National Trust’s ‘Trees of Hope’ programme , 49 saplings were awarded to organisations and individuals across the country who have had a significant positive impact on their community, with nine being plante
