ALBANY- Governor Kathy Hochul has signed new legislation aimed at making asthma medication more affordable for the more than 1.4 million adults in the state who live with the condition. The law eliminates co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket costs for at least one rescue inhaler and one maintenance inhaler for anyone covered by a state-regulated health plan.
“No one should have to choose between paying their bills or refilling a prescription for an inhaler that could save their life,” Hochul said in a statement. “Requiring insurance coverage and eliminating coinsurance for inhalers will help millions of New Yorkers living with asthma ensure they are never without the medication they depend on.”
