BRAINERD — For those who think the Brainerd Warriors' run of Section 8 dominance might be over, you might want to think again.

The Warriors graduated four of their seven state participants from last year’s fifth-place finish, but return three as well as both alternates. Plus, Brainerd’s junior varsity was just as stacked as its varsity last season, leaving Warrior head coach Tessa Capella believing the best is still to come.

“I think our junior varsity boys were first at most meets last year, if not every meet,” Capelle said. “We’re finishing three, four, five boys in the top 10 at JV meets. These guys are right up there skiing competitively and any team would have been lucky to have them on their varsity team. We’re fortunate to have such a strong group of motivated skiers.
