A man has appeared in court accused of burgling a North East leisure centre and stealing a large amount of confectionary. Michael Gregg and another male allegedly forced their way into Elswick Leisure Centre, in Newcastle , at around 6.30am on February 8 this year.

The 42-year-old is then suspected of smashing a vending machine and making-off with the contents, the value of which was unknown. Gregg, of Hareydene, in Slatyford, appeared in the dock at Newcastle Magistrates' Court this week to plead not guilty to one count of burglary of a non-dwelling.
