£475 worth of extra payments are landing for state pensioners over winter. The Department for Work and Pensions has a string of extra payments to help hard-up and skint retirees through the autumn and winter months.

The DWP is paying out the Winter Fuel Allowance, which is worth £200 or £300, as well as the Warm Home Discount, which is worth £150, and also the Cold Weather Payment, which is worth £25 a pop.

Pensioners can get up to £300 in Winter Fuel Payments to help cover costs over winter. However, it only applies to pensioners with annual incomes below £35,000. The Labour Party government has widened the eligibility for this winter.
