BRAINERD — Brainerd head coach Charlie Schoeck eclipsed 100 wins in his career last year.

He enters his eighth season with one returning senior starter, but still a lot of optimism.

“I think the thing that has stood out in the first week of practice is the competitive spirit that these guys have,” Scheock said. “A lot of these guys haven’t played a lot of basketball together, but they have a great competitive spirit.”

Brainerd scored an upset win in the Section 8-4A Quarterfinals against Sauk Rapids before losing to top-seed St. Michael-Albertville in the semifinals. The top two scorers from last year, Korde Roseman and Eli Tautges, play for the Central Lakes College Raiders. The Warriors finished 14-14 overall and 8-8 in the Central Lakes Conference.
