SWARTZ CREEK, MI — Cafe Brûlée, a new coffee shop and bakery, opened earlier this month at 5286 Miller Road, offering locally roasted coffee, pastries and a social space for Swartz Creek residents.

Manager Jessica Southwell said the cafe aims to be cozy.

“It’s a place where friends and family can meet and they can know the baristas and everyone here,” she said.

Southwell, whose family has lived in Swartz Creek for four generations, said residents have long wanted a spot like this.

“Everybody is always like, ‘We need a coffee shop. We need a bakery,’” she said. “We need a spot where people can just go — not have to go hang out at the bar…but just to be able to sit, chat with your friends and get some awesome baked goods.”
