Counter terrorism police are urging parents to be vigilant of the online activity of their children due to rising number accessing extremist content. Counter Terrorism Policing North East are issuing the warning as many will be buying phones and tablets for Christmas in the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
The warning comes as referrals in the North East to the Government’s Prevent scheme have increased by 26% in the last year. The increase has been primarily driven by a record number of referrals due to concerns about the vulnerability to radicalisation of children under the age of 18.
