Star Trek threatened Vulcan with extinction not once, but twice. 2009’s JJ Abrams-helmed Star Trek charted a new destiny for the franchise, taking some bold creative swings along the way. One of these swings was destroying Spock’s homeworld of Vulcan, and as revealed in Star Trek #55-58, the species was nearly wiped out again.

“The Legacy of Spock,” running in Star Trek #55-58, was written by Mike Johnson and drawn by Tony Shasteen. After Vulcan’s destruction, the survivors search for a new planet to settle on, ultimately deciding on Ceti Alpha V.
