CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago firefighters were held at gunpoint outside a station on Thanksgiving Day, police and an alderman said.

The crime happened at about 7:15 a.m. in front of Engine91's quarters in the 2800-block of N. Pulaski Road, police confirmed.

Forty-fifth ward Alderman Jim Gardiner said masked suspects were trying to steal a vehicle belonging to a member of the fire dept. in front of the firehouse.

Police said three victims tried to approach the suspects who were trying to take a car. The suspects then pulled out a gun.

The suspects fled in an unknown vehicle in an unknown direction.
