What took them so long? After years of complaining in isolation about declining state aid, school superintendents and city administrators from Boston to the Berkshires joined this month to call on the governor to fund schools at a level that matches reality.
And at a level that restores the state’s historic commitment to this important investment.
Local leaders have their eyes on the prize: the surtax on millionaires, known as the Fair Share Amendment, which this fiscal year reaped $2.9 billion.
