Drivers are facing traffic chaos on the M1 this afternoon after a crash partially closed one stretch of the major UK motorway . National Highways said there has been a crash on the M1 northbound at junction 28, with one of four lanes closed.

Motorway camera footage from the scene shows police holding traffic in one section and queuing traffic further on.

Traffic England, an online service run by National Highways that provides live traffic information flags the incident as a "road traffic collision", and currently says it expects normal traffic conditions to return between 3.30pm and 3.45pm.
