FLINT, MI - The Flint Institute of Arts is turning its galleries into a gathering place for older adults through its new Creative Aging initiative , a program built to give people 55 and older free opportunities each week to make art, watch films and connect with others.

The Creative Aging initiative is one of many millage supported programs across Genesee County that help seniors stay engaged, offering enriching arts, history and science experiences throughout local cultural institutions.

On one particular Wednesday in November, participants gathered inside the museum’s tattoo exhibition for Sketching in the Galleries, a monthly drop-in drawing session led by art educator Ransom McCarthy.
