The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice across parts of the North East, with forecasters cautioning that falling temperatures, which could feel like -3C.

The alert is in force from 10pm tonight until 9am on Sunday (November 30) and covers Darlington, County Durham and Northumberland.

According to the Met Office, rainfall earlier in the evening will leave surfaces wet, and as temperatures drop widely below freezing, this moisture is expected to freeze on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
