Ashland County District Attorney Blake Gross has been named Wisconsin’s District Attorney of the Year by the Wisconsin District Attorneys’ Association.

The association announced the honor Nov. 13, recognizing Gross for delivering justice through fair, ethical prosecution while also pushing for reform-minded initiatives that serve the entire community.

Gross was appointed as Ashland County District Attorney in 2023 by Gov. Tony Evers. Days later, he and his team were tasked with prosecuting a double homicide case that resulted in a guilty verdict after a month-long trial in 2024. The jury convicted the defendant of first-degree intentional homicide, second-degree intentional homicide, battery and resisting arrest, all while the defendant was intoxicated.
