A fire inside two Thorncliffe Park highrises that ignited Thursday afternoon continued to smoulder Saturday morning, leaving 114 displaced residents with no idea when they will be able to go home.
Robert Hewson, Toronto Fire Services’ acting division commander, told reporters at the scene that firefighters still cannot see the blaze between walls separating adjoining highrise at 11 Thorncliffe Park Dr. and 21 Overlea Blvd.
“The fire is still burning behind the walls … a smouldering fire in a very tight, confined space,” Hewson said. “Our progress is going in the direction we want, however very slowly.”
