LANSING - The region is expected to get its first major snowfall of the season today and overnight into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service has issued a winter storm warning that went into effect early today and remains until 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 30.

Ingham County is expected to see 8 inches of snow overall, according to the NWS, with an inch of snow during the day today, 6 inches expected to fall overnight and another inch on Sunday, Nov. 30.

Snowfall amounts are expected to be higher further north and west in Eaton and Clinton counties, which will also see about an inch today but 7 inches overnight and another inch on Sunday.

Eaton County Emergency Management officials said residents should prepare for 6-10 inches of snow, based on various forecasts
