LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A hearing is set for the man sentenced to death for killing two children at a Laredo hotel in 2012.

According to Webb County records, a hearing for Demond Depree Bluntson is set for December 3 and 10 in the 49th District Court. The same court sentenced him to death nearly a decade ago.

Bluntson was convicted of killing one-and-a-half-year-old Devian Bluntson and six-year-old Jayden Thompson in 2012. The conviction marked the county’s first death sentence in nearly 30 years.

In September , Bluntson requested to represent himself in court if a new trial is approved. The court will decide on his request and possibly exchange evidence.
