Pre-COVID, I had the chance to play the bagpipes for a Kirking of the Tartan service at the Greenville Presbyterian Church in Meriwether County. I had never visited the church, so I googled it.

In addition to the church’s Facebook page, a link appeared to a research effort titled “Historic Rural Churches of Georgia.” Two gentlemen, Sonny Seals and George Hart, were making a good-faith effort to chronicle the history, architecture and contributions of Georgia’s rural churches.

Sonny hatched the idea while looking for the burial site of his great-grandfather.
