My daughter has officially caught the travel bug.

After our drive up the West Coast this summer, she got her first look at how big and beautiful the world can be outside Newnan.

She inherited my wanderlust, and that is perfectly normal. This summer, she saw everything from Big Sur to the redwoods to those late-night bonfires on Cannon Beach.

Kids reflect our patterns before we are ready to admit we have them and she is already asking about our next road trip to New England.

On the way to school the other day, she said something I used to think a long time ago: “Wouldn’t it be great if Newnan were on the West Coast?”

I told her, “Only if the people came with it.”
