Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope was left out of Eddie Howe's team to face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium tonight.
Howe named Aaron Ramsdale between the posts for United's first ever visit to Everton's new ground . Pope is understood to be injured despite strong suggestions he would be dropped after a clanger in the 2-1 defeat to Marseille in the Champions League.
Veteran stopper John Ruddy was Newcastle's back-up option on the bench. Howe named Tino Livramento at right-back with Malick Thiaw and Dan Burn in the middle of his defence while Lewis Hall started at left-back.
