The death of an Edmonton man the weekend previous on Edmonton’s north side is now being investigated as a homicide.

Edmonton police announced Friday that the death of Ermiya Zerzghi, 28, is being probed by the Homicide Section after an autopsy confirmed the victim suffered blunt head injuries and neck compression.

On Nov. 23, police were called to attend a residence near 157 Avenue and 130A to perform a welfare check. It was there that they discovered the victim. Police at the time deemed the scene as suspicious, but an autopsy was required to confirm the cause of death. The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s office concluded the autopsy on Thursday.
