GEORGIA, USA — Fire officials in some metro Atlanta areas are informing residents about the High Fire Danger due to weather conditions.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said it issued the Fire Danger Statement for much of north and central Georgia. They are "strongly" discouraging outdoor burning.

It is currently not allowed in Roswell, Butts County, and Woodstock in to the evening due to relatively low humidity.

In Roswell , fire officials said the High Fire Danger is in effect until around 9 p.m. Saturday night. In Woodstock and Butts County , the alert remains in effect all day.

NWS officials said winds in the east to southeast are at speeds of five to 15 mph, with stronger winds and gusts to 30 mph in the higher terrain.
