MONTREAL - Major labor unions in Quebec are set to hold a demonstration in downtown Montreal to voice their discontent with the provincial government. The rally is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. and will feature participation from nine prominent unions and five umbrella organizations, representing approximately 4,500 community groups.
The unions are critical of the government led by François Legault, claiming it is shifting toward the political right. They argue that this shift threatens the social fabric that generations of Quebecers have worked to build. Union leaders have expressed particular concern over recent cuts to public services and the underfunding of social programs.
In addition to these issues, the unions are opposing government measures that they believe limit the rights and scope of union activities. The demonstration aims to unite various groups in a show of solidarity against these policies, highlighting the collective frustration with the current administration's approach to labor and social welfare.
