LEXINGTON, Ky. — Devine Carama, Lexington's award-winning hip-hop artist, anti-gun violence leader and community activist, is once again bringing special attention to his youth-based nonprofit Believing in Forever’s 12th annual winter coat drive for children

“Hip hop is the foundation of everything I do, from activism to who I am as a man," Carama said. "How can I leverage that to bring attention to a worthy cause?"

With a goal of getting 2,300 coats, Carama said his nonprofit has collected 800 within the first two weeks.

“This year's been a little different," Carama said. "I think the economy is in a space where people are struggling, so donations are lower. But then, also, I just haven't had time because of my job and other things going on to really promote it."
