West Kirby's festive winter wonderland was disrupted this week due to an unfortunate incident. Extensive damage was caused to the enchanted forest display after a lorry drove through power cables in the area, volunteers responsible for the Christmas lights announced.

The incident took place on Thursday (November 27) the A540 Grange Road. A spokesperson for the West Kirby Christmas Lights group, which organises the annual switch-on, wrote on Facebook : "We wanted to let you know about an incident that happened earlier today.

"As equipment was being delivered to West Kirby Concourse, the delivery lorry unfortunately drove through the cables that power part of our Enchanted Forest displ
