WEST CALDWELL, New Jersey — A New Jersey cheese distributor has recalled several popular grated cheese products sold under several national brands after federal testing detected listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced this week .
According to the FDA, the Ambriola Co. said routine sampling uncovered the bacteria in products processed at its West Caldwell facility, prompting the recall of select items sold under the Ambriola, Locatelli, Member’s Mark, Pinna and Boar’s Head labels. The cheeses were distributed nationwide between Nov. 3 and Nov. 20.
Although no illnesses have been reported, listeria poses a serious risk to older adults, young children, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems, the FDA said. Healthy people may experience
