Today is Small Business Saturday, a perfect opportunity for the Yuma community to support locally owned businesses.

While big chains provide many jobs and support local charities, this is the one day we can celebrate and support the hundreds of independent businesses in Yuma County. These small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the foundation of our community.

Local merchants shop locally, hire locally, contract local professionals, advertise locally and give generously to local nonprofits as well.

Experts have long said that a dollar spent at a local establishment turns over three to four times. Their revenues cycle through the local economy more often and efficiently because earnings don’t go to the corporate office to support their overhead.
