EAST LANSING — The Michigan State hockey program had the chance to earn its fifth series sweep of the season on Friday against Colgate.
Behind two tip-in goals from senior forward Daniel Russell and a 25-save performance from junior goaltender Trey Augustine, the Spartans were able to complete the sweep with a 4-1 victory ahead of a highly anticipated series with No. 1-ranked Michigan next week.
"I liked the way we started again," MSU coach Adam Nightingale said. "I thought (freshman forward Eric) Nilson's line was really good, probably our best and most consistent line. Now we'll get some rest here and have a good week of practice coming up."
