New Yorkers flying back to the city after the Thanksgiving weekend could face delays resulting from a software update for a family of planes.
Aircraft maker Airbus on Friday told airlines operating A320 airplanes to make immediate updates to the software, acknowledging that the fix will lead to flight disruptions. The move comes after a JetBlue flight on its way to Newark airport last month experienced a sudden drop in altitude, according to Reuters.
JetBlue and American Airlines operate a number of the planes on routes in and out of New York City airports. Several JetBlue routes that routinely use A320 aircraft were listed as delayed at JFK International Airport on Saturday.
JetBlue and American Airlines did not respond to questions about how far along they are with the software update
