Aston Villa bosses are plotting a shock move for Brentford sensation Igor Thiago. Villa manager Unai Emery has targeted the Brazilian as a long-term replacement for Ollie Watkins.

Emery had been keen to sign a new forward last summer, to provide more competition for Watkins. The Villans sold young Colombian Jhon Duran last January after an astonishing rise to prominence saw a Saudi offer they simply couldn't turn down and never sourced a like-for-like replacement.

Now Villa could make a move for Thiago in the upcoming January transfer window to do precisely that.

Thiago, who cost Brentford £30m from Club Brugge in 2024, has been a sensation this season. The 24-year-old has plundered 10 goals in 13 appearances, prior to Saturday's game against Burnley.
