BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man is facing multiple drug and weapons charges after police say he led officers on a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, officers were conducting a proactive patrol detail when they attempted to stop a vehicle near Perkins Road and Park Boulevard. Police said the driver refused to stop, sparking a pursuit.

During the chase, the driver—identified as Trevis Wetherspoon—allegedly struck a parked vehicle and a fire hydrant, disabling his car. BRPD said Wetherspoon then ran from the vehicle but was quickly caught by officers.

Police reported that Wetherspoon was found with U.S. currency, drugs, paraphernalia, and a firearm.

He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the following charge
