MICHIGAN — With Northern Michigan expecting to see more snow Saturday through Sunday the U.S. Postal Service is reminding Michiganders to clear snow and ice from walkways and mailbox areas to help keep letter carriers safe.

In a press release The USPS said snow buildup and icy patches can make it difficult—and sometimes dangerous—for carriers to reach porches, steps, walkways, and curbside mailboxes.

The USPS went on to remind residents that maintaining a clear, ice-free path helps ensure consistent and timely mail delivery throughout the busy holiday season.

USPS adds that its employees make every reasonable effort to deliver in severe weather, but customer cooperation is essential to protecting carriers and keeping service running smoothly.
