IT TOOK just seven months for Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney to strike an unlikely deal with Alberta’s conservative Premier Danielle Smith to build a new oil pipeline through disputed territory to the West Coast. It took just four hours for Liberal cabinet minister Steven Guilbeault to resign his post in opposition to the deal that abandons many of the climate policies and principles that he championed as environment minister in the former Liberal government of Justin Trudeau. They are much the same policies that Carney championed before he succeeded Trudeau. My, how times have changed.
