Left tackle Broderick Jones’ season might be over after the Steelers placed him on injured reserve on Saturday.
Jones injured his neck in the 31-28 loss to Chicago last week. Jones must spend a minimum of four games on IR, so the earliest he could return is for the Dec. 28 game at Cleveland in Week 17. The regular season ends the following week with a home game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Steelers made the decision on Friday to start veteran Andrus Peat at left tackle against the Bills. Calvin Anderson replaced Jones in the Chicago game, but coach Mike Tomlin staged a competition during the week between Anderson and Peat to see who would start.
It will be Peat’s second start of the season. He started at left guard earlier in the season when Isaac Seumalo was injured.
