Club America have been eliminated from the 2025 Apertura tournament in Liga MX. Despite defeating Monterrey, it was not by the score they needed, with Rayados scoring a last-minute goal with 10 players on the field that gave them a ticket to the semifinals.
The match started with America looking for the opener right away, as they trailed 2-0 on aggregate. The first goal of the night arrived in the 30th minute through a fantastic strike by Alejandro Zendejas.
America’s second came in the second half, scored by Jose Zuniga, a goal that temporarily gave America a place in the semifinals. Nevertheless, in the final minutes of the game, German Berterame scored a header that made it 2-1 (3-2 on aggregate), sending Monterrey to the next round.
