WAYNE COUNTY, MI - A man is in critical condition after allegedly assaulting a police officer during a domestic violence dispute in a suburb of Detroit.

On Nov. 28 at approximately 7:20 p.m., Brownstown Police Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Ingram, near Pennsylvania and Inkster, in reference to a felony domestic violence incident.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the alleged victim and witnesses and confirmed that the suspect had barricaded himself inside the attached garage, according to the news release.

Police said they encountered the suspect in the garage, where they identified a weapon in his hand. They maintained a safe position while awaiting additional units and began developing a plan to safely take the suspect into custody.
