Boston Red Sox fans everywhere perked up when Jon Heyman of the The New York Post recently pinpointed five bats that Boston is reportedly pursuing this offseason, with the supposed goal of landing two of them. Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso, and Kyle Schwarber were among the names listed by Heyman (no surprises there), but one guy left out was Bo Bichette.
Bichette’s omission was contrasted by a new report from MLB.com’s Ian Browne published Saturday suggesting that the Red Sox are still interested in the two-time All-Star.
“The Red Sox will be monitoring the free agent situations of Bo Bichette and Kyle Schwarber closely,” Browne wrote . “Both of those players are attached to the qualifying offer, which means Boston will have to provide Draft compensation in the event of a signing.”
