LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -Now that Thanksgiving has passed, it’s officially time to start thinking about Christmas shopping.

Just last week, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird signed a proclamation declaring Saturday, Nov. 29 Small Business Saturday in the city , urging community members to shop local this holiday season. That can be done around town, including the Uni Place neighborhood on 48th Street, whose creative district board held a Small Business Saturday event down shops along the block.

For businesses like the LUX Center for the Arts, it was a day to showcase the unique connection to the community small businesses like them can offer.
