Fortnite players in the Chicago area and across the country were locked out of the game Saturday as servers were down for maintenance.
According to the Epic Games website, scheduled maintenance would force Fortnite's server to go offline Saturday, prompting the reported issues.
The maintenance started at 1:15 p.m. CT, according to the Epic Games website , and will continue until 8:30 p.m. CT.
"Fortnite game servers will be offline following the Zero Hour live event while we release v39.00," an alert on the website read.
Reports of issues with the game started building around noon Saturday, according to Down Detector. By 1:15 p.m., nearly 2,000 players reported issues.
