WAIKIKI, Hawaii (Island News) -- The man who was arrested after a police officer was bitten and kicked in Waikiki on Thursday morning has received his criminal charges.
Honolulu police responded to an incident in the area of Kalakaua and Ohua Avenue at approximately 7:32 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27, where one of the officers was allegedly assaulted by a man. Police said the suspect, 60-year-old Tommy Chiles, bit and kicked an officer multiple times.
The officer who was attacked sustained injuries to his hand and pain to his body. He was treated at the hospital and then released in good condition.
Chiles was arrested soon after for first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer. The suspect was charged on Friday, Nov. 28, with the assault offense.
The suspect’s bail was set at $25,000.
