CHARLESTOWN, Ind. — Music filled the air in Charlestown tonight as the southern Indiana town kicked off its Light Up tradition for another year. Three separate parks are decked out for the holidays, bringing families back year after year from near and far.
The countdown began, voices rising: "Turn it on! Merry Christmas, Charlestown!"
Children cheered as the 55-foot city tree blazed to life.
"It's beautiful. It's really lit up," said Reagan, taking in the scene.
All aboard the Rainbow Express (and Romance)
Some visitors came for the 20-minute Rainbow Express train rides through the park. Others came for different reasons.
"I got me a girlfriend now. So we gotta take pictures," said one young man sporting a Carhartt jacket, ready for his picture-perfect moment.
