On Saturday, the NFL made a decision to slap the Detroit Lions hard with not one, not two, but three fines.
Each Saturday during the season, the league hands out punishments to players who break the rules on the field in the previous week's matchups, and the Lions were on the rough side of that this week.
The NFL states on their website that they issue these fines "to protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity." They add that the NFL and NFL Players Association agree on the set of game-related rules violations that may result in accountability measures.
