The expression on this majestic creature’s face — especially the gaze coming from those pretty peepers — as he stares at the lions in a glow-in-the-dark mural at the Brevard Zoo is simply priceless. If eyes truly are windows to the soul, this guy, one of three lion brothers at the zoo, is one cool, observant kitty.

“It was a truly thrilling encounter I’ll never forget,” said FLORIDA TODAY photographer Tim Shortt, who captured the shot during "Lights On: A Nightime Art Experience."
