With reports swirling about coach Jon Sumrall getting close to accepting the vacant Florida job, plenty of drama surrounded Tulane’s regular-season finale against hapless Charlotte.

The game itself had next to no intrigue. As expected, it was over soon after it started.

Punching its ticket to the American Conference championship game, Tulane scored easy touchdowns on its first two series sandwiched around a three-and-out from Charlotte on its way to a 27-0 victory on Saturday night at Yulman Stadium. The Green Wave waited a bit to deliver the knockout blow, committing back-to-back turnovers, but a third touchdown right before halftime ended any remaining doubt.
